Aloha Trip

Last week, we flew to Hawaii instead of spring skiing in Whistler.  We enjoyed our trip very much and spent most of the time at the beach and of course eating & shave ice.  One of Mike & Dane's favorite, as well as mine was when the two of them were swimming with the green sea turtle at Laniakea beach at the North Shore, Oahu (panorama view)  http://www.to-hawaii.com/oahu/beaches/p55.html . While they were swimming with the turtle, there was another one approximately 30 years old & 225 lbs.  resting on the shore for a couple hours. It would have been cool to watch Missy crawling back to the sea but it was time for us to move to the next destination. I'm pretty sure she was enjoying the sun and all the attention she got from the tourists watching her.

One day, we stopped at Waimea beach park. To our surprise we were greeted with massive waves when we walked out a few feet away from the shore and the water was up to the neck!  I thought it was scary because once the wave hit me, I was brought  to the shore quickly and sucked back to the sea.  The two had a blast though!  These photos were taken from an underwater camera.
The shrimp truck is a must when you are heading up to the North Shore. The shrimps were big, about 10 to 12 pcs and serve with two scoops of rice, side sauce, lemon and slices of pineapple.  I love the butter garlic shrimp, was sooo good (makes me hungry right now)!

This store is popular for the best shave ice (with Dane's approval) and have tons of tropical fruit  flavors.  It is located in the charming town of Haleiwa, maybe an hour from Waikiki. And just miles away from the shrimp truck too.  It was worth the drive afterall.

When you see restaurant that's crowded, that's for sure a good thing.  So, we tried this Japanese place and it  did satisfy our hunger after two hours of waiting at the doctor's office.  Yes, we were at the urgent care clinic because Dane stepped on a sea urchin while taking the surf lesson but the doctor didn't do anything. I thought at first he was joking, but really the spikes will just break by itself & Dane's fine. Mahalo!
